Why Hike Windsor Lake
The short hike to pretty Windsor Lake is very steep but well worth the effort. The trail heads straight uphill, gaining almost 800-ft in the first 0.8 miles. The final 0.3 miles traverses pretty alpine meadows on a gentle gradient to the rocky shores of Windsor Lake, nestled in a scenic granite basin along the eastern flank of the Continental Divide. The lake is a popular destination for fishermen and hikers looking for a nice half day hike in the Leadville area.
